ACRL is accepting applications from prospective presenters for its licensed workshop, “Planning, Assessing, and Communicating Library Impact: Putting the Standards for Libraries in Higher Education into Action.” ACRL is looking to recruit and mentor at least three new presenters for the workshop. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Central on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.
Generally offered as a day-long, in-person workshop led by one to two presenters, this workshop is part of ACRL’s slate of that can be scheduled upon request from libraries, consortia, and other groups across the country. Additionally, there is a virtual option for the Standards workshop that is offered remotely over two half-days.
Qualifications:
- Evidence of understanding and/or usage of the Standards for Libraries in Higher Education and their application in libraries.
- Experience in designing, developing, facilitating, and teaching interactive workshops, in person and/or online.
- An ability to foster connections and create learning environments in which participants can exchange ideas and share experiences and information.
- Demonstrated ability in collaborative planning, curriculum design, and project management.
- Demonstrated teaching experience.
Candidates should highlight additional qualifications in areas such as:
- Background in assessment and/or benchmarking.
- Demonstrated understanding and engagement of campus-wide planning.
We encourage applications from individuals who are committed to fostering diverse and inclusive environments, as well as those representing the full array of professional areas and services in academic and research librarianship. ACRL seeks to provide opportunity to underrepresented groups that have been historically marginalized or excluded due to race, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, economic background, age, and/or disability.
Successful members of the presenter team must be:
- Available to shadow one workshop prior to co-presenting
- Available to present the Standards workshops (in-person and/or virtual) during the year. These can include in-person licensed workshops, virtual license workshops, and pre-conferences.
The Standards workshop content is dynamic and evolving, and the new presenters will participate in shaping the curriculum as a collegial partner with the current presenters. Serving as a member of the presenter team involves participating in regular planning calls, design meetings, participating in all segments of assigned workshops, and development of materials, exercises and presentations as needed.
New presenters will gain experience by shadowing experienced presenters for one workshop and then team-teach as a presenter (for an average of two workshops per year, depending on demand and scheduling). ACRL will reimburse the new presenters for travel costs for shadowing one in-person workshop (flights, hotel, ground transportation, and per diem for meals). Thereafter, ACRL will reimburse for travel costs and provide an honorarium for workshops presented.
