ACRL Standards, Guidelines, and Frameworks help libraries, academic institutions, and accrediting agencies understand the components of an excellent library.

These documents are provided as a free service to the academic library community. Your , which supports initiatives that strengthen ACRL’s influence in higher education and its ability to create diverse and inclusive communities in the association and the profession, assists us as we continue to provide these important resources.

ACRL's Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education opens the way for librarians, faculty, and other institutional partners to redesign instruction sessions, assignments, courses, and even curricula; connect information literacy with student success initiatives; collaborate on pedagogical research and involve students themselves in that research; and create wider conversations about student learning, the scholarship of teaching and learning, and the assessment of learning on local campuses and beyond.

Standards Committee

91´«Ã½

The ACRL Standards Committee is responsible for overseeing the development of standards and guidelines adopted and promoted by the Association. The Information Literacy Frameworks and Standards Committee, a component committee of the Standards Committee, oversees the development and review of discipline-specific information literacy documents. ACRL Standards, Guidelines, Frameworks, and model statements are reviewed and updated by the membership on a regular basis. The ACRL Guide to Policies and Procedures contains complete information on the creation and review of ACRL Standards, Guidelines, and Frameworks.
