Biographical Information
Dr. Leo S. Lo serves as the Dean and Professor of the College of University Libraries and Learning Sciences at the University of New Mexico. He oversees a dynamic and multifaceted operation, including all University Libraries, the University of New Mexico Press, and the Organization Information and Learning Sciences (OILS) programs, which offer Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral degree programs. His responsibilities extend to leading over 120 full-time faculty and staff and managing a budget of over $20 million.
Prior to joining UNM, Lo was Associate Dean at Pennsylvania State University Libraries; Associate University Librarian at Old Dominion University; Head of McLure Education Library at the University of Alabama; and Research & Development Librarian at Kansas State University.
A key area of focus for Lo is integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into library services and academic support, aligning with the evolving landscape of library sciences and education technology. He actively engages in research and discussions around AI, aiming to enhance AI literacy and its ethical application in academia. Lo's work in this domain is characterized by a balance of strategic leadership and a hands-on approach to the challenges and opportunities presented by AI in educational settings.
