Assessment in Action Workshop Call for Facilitators
91´«Ã½
ACRL is accepting applications from prospective facilitators for its licensed workshop, Assessment in Action: Demonstrating and Communicating Library Contributions to Student Learning and Success, also known as the Assessment in Action (AiA) RoadShow. ACRL is looking to recruit and mentor three new facilitators for the AiA RoadShow. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Central on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.
Generally offered as a day-long, in-person workshop led by one or more facilitators, the AiA RoadShow is part of ACRL’s slate of licensed workshops that can be scheduled upon request from academic libraries, consortia, ACRL chapters, and other groups in the U.S. and internationally. Additionally, there is now a virtual option for the AiA RoadShow that is offered remotely over two half-days.
Qualifications:
- Conversant with the issues and challenges of assessment in academic libraries and higher education, including knowledge of the forces outside the sector driving for greater accountability
- Experience in developing and facilitating interactive workshops, both in person and online
- An ability to foster connections and create learning environments in which participants can exchange ideas and share experiences
- Demonstrated ability in collaborative planning and project management
- Demonstrated teaching excellence
Candidates should highlight additional qualifications, such as:
- Demonstrated knowledge of assessment methods, including both quantitative and qualitative measures, data collection strategies, and analytical techniques
- Experience analyzing data which emanate from different campus units (e.g., institutional research, program review, learning outcomes assessment, etc.)
- Experience designing protocols and gathering new data through direct observation, as well as questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and focus groups
- Adeptness at communicating and presenting assessment project results
We encourage applications from individuals who are committed to fostering diverse and inclusive environments, as well as those representing the full array of professional areas and services in academic and research librarianship. ACRL seeks to provide opportunity to underrepresented groups that have been historically marginalized or excluded due to race, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, economic background, age, and/or disability.
The AiA RoadShow content is dynamic and evolving, and new facilitators will participate in shaping the curriculum as a collegial partner with the current team. Serving as a member of the facilitation team involves participating in regular design meetings, facilitating all segments of assigned workshops, and developing instructional materials and learning activities as needed.
Members of the facilitator team must be available to:
- Shadow one workshop and co-facilitate one RoadShow prior to facilitating solo
- Facilitate the AiA RoadShow in person and virtually throughout the year
The number of RoadShows per year depends on demand and scheduling availability. The number of facilitators assigned to a specific RoadShow is based on the capacity for registration for the event. ACRL provides an honorarium for each facilitator assigned to a RoadShow (including the initial shadowing experience) and reimburses for travel costs for in-person facilitation (flights, hotel, ground transportation, and per diem for meals).
