ACRL E-mail Updates and Discussion Lists

ACRL offers discussion lists to keep you informed about important issues within the association and the academic and research librarianship arena.

All ACRL discussion lists are currently hosted through 91´«Ã½ Connect. In order to subscribe/post to the list you will need to join the group’s 91´«Ã½ Connect community and address all discussion list email messages to the Connect discussion list address which can be found on the table below.

When a message is sent to the new Connect email address, it will generate a post directly to the group’s 91´«Ã½ Connect community. Please note, your message will only be posted if you are a member of the Connect community. See steps below on how to join this community.

Current ACRL Members

All 91´«Ã½ members have an 91´«Ã½ Connect account connected to their 91´«Ã½ login. You are automatically added to any ACRL Section and/or Interest Group Connect space when you join that interest group/section as part of your 91´«Ã½/ACRL membership.

If you know you are a current ACRL member and cannot access the 91´«Ã½ Connect space for your section’s page in Connect, you may need to add this section to your ACRL membership. ACRL membership provides complimentary membership for all ACRL Communities of Practice, including sections and interest groups. Please call 91´«Ã½ Member & Customer Service at 1-800-545-2433 ext. 5 for assistance or check with any membership questions.

Non-Members

Non-members are welcome to create a and have access to numerous resources as well as discussion viewing privileges. Non-members can post to the section and interest group lists once they create a free account, log in and join each community.

Notification Settings

91´«Ã½ Connect allows you to adjust your email notification settings, including real-time receipt or daily digest mode. You can change your email receipt preferences at any time in Connect, by clicking on “My Connect,” then “Community Notification Settings.” This short shows how to adjust your notification settings.

Discussion List Guidelines

Due to 91´«Ã½'s tax exemption as a 501(c)(3), 91´«Ã½ resources cannot be used to support or oppose any candidate for public office. Nor can they be used to link to other sites that contain such support or opposition. Neither can 91´«Ã½'s resources be used to suggest or support boycotts or to make defamatory remarks.

The scholarly communication discussion list is a forum for the examination and analysis of topics such as open access to scholarly information, new models of scholarly publishing, increasing journal prices, copyright law and policy, related technologies, and federal information law and policies that impact the access of scholars, students, and the public to scholarly information.
