Preservation in Action Event — Volunteers Wanted!

Join Preservation in Action for an engaging, hands-on opportunity to help preserve local cultural heritage at the 2019 91传媒 Annual Conference in Washington DC! Participants will take part in day-long preservation project with District of Columbia Public Library, Special Collections, which is in an interim space located at 1709 3rd Street, NE, Washington DC. Working with archival collections, primarily with damaged and fragile books from the division’s Cutter Collection, participants will learn about the preservation needs of these types of materials, appropriate storage, and best practices.

No experience is required. This event is SOLD OUT.

The District of Columbia Public Library is a dynamic source of information, programs, books and other library materials and services that improve the quality of life for District residents of all ages that, when combined with expert staff, helps build a thriving city. The Library provides environments that invite reading, community conversation, creative inspiration and exploration, lectures, films, computer access and use, workforce and economic development, storytimes for children, and much more. DC Public Library includes a soon-to-be-modernized central library and 25 neighborhood libraries and also provides services in nontraditional settings outside of the library buildings.
