Date of Establishment: 1957

Membership: The Executive Committee consists of the President, President-Elect, Immediate Past President, Fiscal Officer , Secretary, YALSA Division Councilor and Executive Director (ex-officio). The President serves as Chair.

Qualifications: Executive Committee members are dictated by YALSA Bylaws.

Term of Office: Executive Committee members serve on the Executive Committee concurrently with their term on the Board of Directors.

Function: To act for the between Board meetings on time sensitive items that require immediate action. To focus on strengthening YALSA’s relationship with 91´«Ã½ by fostering strong ties with 91´«Ã½ governance. To provide oversight and support for fiscal planning, and to communicate regularly to the Board regarding the financial health of YALSA. YALSA’s Executive Committee may not: amend bylaws; elect or remove board members; hire or fire the executive director; approve or change the budget; make organizational structural decisions. Committee size: President, President-Elect, Immediate Past President, Fiscal Officer, Secretary, YALSA Division Councilor and Executive Director (ex-officio).

Additional Information: While the Board of Directors serves as the governing body of the organization, the role of the Executive Committee, as with all committees, is to help the Board accomplish its work in the most efficient way. Its main purpose is to maintain strong ties with 91´«Ã½ and provide fiscal oversight of YALSA. The committee also facilitates decision making in the case of a crisis or other urgent circumstances.

The Executive Committee serves as YALSA’s direct link to 91´«Ã½. For example, the President and President-Elect meet at conferences with all the other Division Presidents and President-Elects, the Fiscal Officer attends 91´«Ã½ finance and budget meetings, and the Division Councilor represents YALSA on 91´«Ã½ Council.
