PLA announces candidates for 2024 Board Election

CHICAGO — The Public Library Association (PLA) 2024 Nominating Committee has unveiled the slate of candidates for the Association’s 2024 Election. This year, six nominees will stand for three positions on the PLA Board of Directors: 2025–2026 president and two directors-at-large.

The candidate elected in each race will serve a three-year term from July 2024 through June 2027. The candidate elected to the office of president will serve one year as president-elect (2024–2025), one year as president (2025–2026), and one year as immediate past-president (2026–2027).

The candidates and the offices for which they are running are listed below. Please click on the name of each candidate to learn more about them.

PLA personal members in good standing as of Jan. 31, 2024, may cast a digital ballot to vote. Online voting opens Monday, March 11, 2024, and ends Wednesday, April 3, 2024. Each eligible PLA member will receive an email containing voting instructions and their unique ballot URL.

A featuring Kim DeNero-Ackroyd and Dr. Brandy McNeil will occur on Monday, March 18, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Central. The candidates will answer questions developed by PLA committee members. The forum will be moderated by PLA President Sonia Alcántara-Antoine. Register for the forum .
