Assessment of Online Library Instruction
Four-week asynchronous course beginning on Monday, February 7, 2022
This course will provide patrons with the theoretical and practical tools and resources needed to conduct quality assessment of asynchronous and synchronous online library instruction. The course will consist of one week training for each of the following topics: Creating effective anecdotal assessment tools for faculty and students of asynchronous/synchronous library sessions; Using online tools for assessment; Creating effective assessment questions for online “one-shots”; and Assessing library instructional videos for asynchronous sessions.
The course, taught by Anthony Bishop, is designed for library instructors in Academic, K-12 or Public Libraries who conduct instruction or create library instruction videos for asynchronous or synchronous library instruction.
Six-week asynchronous course beginning on Monday, February 14, 2022
Reference Interview is a comprehensive six-week asynchronous course focusing on the methods of evaluating reference services, behavioral aspects of reference service, and the different types of questions that can be used to help patrons identify what they need. Using images and text, this in-depth educational approach covers everything from the approachability of the librarian to how to follow up with the patron.
The course, taught by Dave Tyckoson, is tailored for support staff, library technicians, newly hired reference librarians, and those librarians who want to brush up on their interview skills.
RUSA Virtual Forum- Reference and User Services Re-engaged
Two-day non-consecutive virtual forum
RUSA’s first-ever Virtual Forum “Reference and User Services Re-engaged” will be held on March 8 & 10, 2022. This two-day virtual forum will showcase the work of our sections and interest groups as they share; What have we learned? What ideas will we keep? How can we prepare for future disruption? Which patrons did we serve well and where can we improve to serve all patrons?
