Amanda's Journey......

I am a MSLS graduate from the University of Kentucky, class of 2018. I was honored to receive the Bound to Stay Bound scholarship in 2016, and because of the financial support it provided I was able to complete my degree in five semesters while also working full time at a public library. I am a first generation college graduate in my family, and my education is something I value. The Bound to Stay Bound scholarship allowed me to reach my professional goals of furthering my career. I was also able to take advantage of unique professional development opportunities in graduate school, like obtaining a certificate in Leadership, Communication, and Team Building along with my degree, and completing an alternative spring break internship at the Smithsonian Libraries in Washington, DC. I now work as a children's librarian at a public library, and I credit the Bound to Stay Bound scholarship as a direct source of these achievements.
