What do you value about ACRL?

I really love that ACRL provides library staff so many wonderful opportunities whether that be networking, webinars, presenting, publishing, awards, etc.. I think we're very lucky to have a division that truly cares and advocates for library workers and our patrons.

What do you as an academic librarian contribute to your campus?

As one of the Assistant Directors of Research and Instructional Services, I head up our Research Unit. My unit focuses their efforts on our department statistics and analytics, updating our library website and online tools such as FAQs and research guides, online instruction, outreach templates and scholarly communication. I also am a subject librarian liaison for Business, Marketing, and Management. We don't have a traditional business school at The New School, but the University started incorporating business and entrepreneurship classes into all of their programs, so I get to interact with students and faculty focusing on a variety of topics which is exciting (and keeps me on my toes!).

I also focus efforts of building relationships with other departments across the University to provide partnership and teaching opportunities for our patrons. I'm a research advisor to our Media Smart Citizens group, I have partnered with our Career Services Department to provide generative AI and library database workshops, and I have created a workshop and research guide along with my colleague to benefit our ESL, first generation, and non-traditional students.

In your own words

91´«Ã½

As an academic library worker, we have the opportunity to positively impact the future of various industries and avenues. I take my role seriously to encourage and teach students to think critically, analyze information, use data in a positive way, and add to the scholarly conversation. I'm amazed by the students that I to work with; they always come up with wild and amazing ideas and I love to see them come to fruition. I'm always looking for ways to partner within and outside of the library so that we can provide even better service for our community. It feels good to educate and advocate for the betterment of our community and hopefully humanity.
