I truly value the support that ACRL provides for academic librarians. Of particular importance for me has been the incredible professional development opportunities offered. I have learned so much by attending webinars and conferences and have been able to bring my new/improved skills back to UAA to help improve library services for everyone.

As Head of Access Services, I am able to contribute to my campus in a variety of ways to help support students, staff, faculty, and community members. I ensure policies are equitable and inclusive, materials are available for checkout, and that the library building is welcoming with appropriate spaces for all patrons.

I love my job! My favorite part of my current position is mentoring my staff. I focus quite a bit of time ensuring that I provide the opportunities they need for them to learn and grow in their skills and preparing them to be successful in their chosen career, even if it's not in libraries.
