Describe yourself in three words:

Curious, reflective, deliberative.

What are you reading (or listening to on your mobile device)?

91´«Ã½

I am currently reading the poetry of Philadelphia poet, Pattie McCarthy.

Describe ACRL in three words:

Community, connections, kairotic.

What do you value about ACRL?

91´«Ã½

The available sections, interest groups, and discussion groups. They help members find and grow within their respective communities -- amidst what can sometimes feel like an overwhelming organization to early-career individuals. I have truly valued the personal connections and professional collaborations that have emerged from my section participation. And, the many professional development opportunities (e.g. webinars, RoadShows, and conferences) help foster advocacy and leadership within ACRL and beyond.

What do you as an academic librarian contribute to your campus?

91´«Ã½

I provide research and instructional support to faculty and students in my liaison areas which include English literature, Media Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising, and Communication Studies. Through ongoing outreach, I champion the synergistic energy between the library and these disciplines; I also develop collections for these areas. Moreover, I’m an advocate for open education, facilitating conversation and collaboration about affordable learning and open educational practices on campus through the management of initiatives and grant awards, plus individual consultations.

In your own words

91´«Ã½

I think librarians help shape their campus communities in meaningful ways by bringing together campus stakeholders and furthering dialogue around topics like textbook affordability, information privilege, open access, and student privacy.
