For fun, I'm currently reading "Crescent City" by Sarah J. Maas. It's been a slow go because part 1 killed me, but it's really good. For work, I'm re-reading "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" since it's my course text for the "Magic & Muggle Studies" first year seminar I'm teaching in the fall.
Community, opportunities, fun.

I've had the best time working with the Instruction Section committees, especially the current Research & Scholarship Committee crew - y'all are amazing. I also appreciate the opportunity to get to both share my work and see what others are up to at the conference and through the works being published. Just getting to be around all these amazing librarians, see what they're doing, and learn from them is a blessing.

A lot of optimism and ideas. Getting to work with our fabulous students, faculty, and staff, whether I'm helping them or working with them on campus committees and projects, is the highlight of my week. I feel really supported when it comes to sharing ideas and trying things out, like virtual escape rooms (or games in the classroom) and expanding partnerships with different departments on campus like our Learning Center. My primary responsibilities are instruction, reference, being a liaison to multiple departments in the Humanities and Social Sciences, and assessment, which are some of my favorite things.

I've wanted to be a librarian since I was four and a half. We lived across the street from the library in our tiny rural town and if I wasn't in the backyard, mom knew I was over in the library. As I went through school, the area of librarianship I wanted to go into changed and I fell in love with academia while in undergrad. I am incredibly lucky that my first academic library job asked me to help create a deeper partnership with the Writing Center, where I had held my first undergrad on-campus job. That has led to a lot of the research I've done personally (so far) and brought a lot of wonderful student employees and colleagues into my life as I've worked on these partnerships throughout this part of my career.
