What do you value about ACRL?

91´«Ã½

As a member of ACRL, I value the opportunity to learn from my peers and to be a participant in building and improving the profession of librarianship. I also value ACRL for its role in publicly advocating for the values and issues that matter deeply to us as librarians.

What do you as an academic librarian contribute to your campus?

91´«Ã½

First and foremost, I bring the sincere willingness to help--any person, any question, any moment. If I don't have the answer, I will find it or connect them to the appropriate person or office. By approaching every person and every problem with respect and empathy, I am able to contribute to the learning and success of both students and faculty.

In your own words

91´«Ã½

My grandmother was a librarian, spending parts of her long career in both public and academic libraries before ending up in special libraries. She always told me that the delight of being a librarian was being presented with unanticipated puzzles and getting to solve them. This is what encouraged me apply to graduate school, and this is what continuously feeds my passion for my profession. Every day presents new puzzles, and new challenges, which lead us to new discoveries and new accomplishments. Coming to work feels like play, and I cannot imagine ever wanting to stop.
