When I first started working in the field, I was a solo librarian. ACRL kept me from feeling isolated. Their webinars and courses kept me informed, and the opportunity to participate on committees kept me directly engaged in my new profession.

Oh, boy! What a question. I manage the databases - ensuring that the materials represent our student population and are relevant to the disciplines we have on campus - facilitate the technology loan program, and participate in shared governance by serving on the Academic Senate and Distance Education and Guided Pathways committees. I am also collaborating with a colleague to create a digital literacy course, teaching workshops, making videos for instructors… so many things.

Not to sound corny, but being a librarian is the bee’s knees. When I decided to change careers to academia, I did not think I would end up a librarian at a community college. I couldn’t be happier with where my path took me. I am glad to be part of a super team that shares my enthusiasm to be an advocate for students and make their academic experience positive.
