The ACRL Board of Directors, at its October 24, 2023, ACRL Fall Board Virtual Meeting requested that a joint working group consisting of members of the ACRL Instruction Section (IS) and ACRL Student Learning and Information Literacy Committee (SLILC) undertake the review and revision process for the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education.
Tasks
91´«Ã½
- Review the current Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education to determine if it still reflects current thinking, theory, and practice on information literacy. Review lenses could include equity, diversity, and inclusion, and the emergence of generative AI.
- Recommend any proposed revisions to the Framework based on that review.
- Produce a draft document incorporating those revisions.
- Seek comments and input on proposed revisions from stakeholder communities and the general ACRL membership.
- Incorporate, as appropriate, those recommendations into a final draft.
- Submit the final draft to ILFSC for review and approval. The approved document would then go to the Standards Committee for review and then on to the ACRL Board of Directors for final approval.
Timeline
91´«Ã½
The ACRL Board of Directors recommended that the goal of this project is to have the review and potential revision process completed by June 2025.
