The establishment of the ACRL AI Competencies for Library Workers Task Force was approved by the ACRL Board of Directors in March 2024.

Tasks

  • Identify and analyze the specific needs and roles of library workers in relation to AI.
  • Review existing ACRL standards and frameworks for AI relevance and integration.
  • Engage with various stakeholders to gather insights and feedback.
  • Develop a set of essential AI competencies for library professionals as needed.
  • Provide recommendations to the board on the implementation and dissemination of the developed competencies across the profession.

  • Date interim report is due: 6 months from task force establishment. (TF established March 2024; interim report will be due at the 2024 ACRL Fall Board Virtual Meeting.)
  • Date final report is due: 12 months from task force establishment. (TF established March 2024; final report will be due at the 2025 ACRL Spring Board Virtual Meeting.)
