Statistics reveal that even though graduation rates of minorities from accredited library and information science programs have gradually increased over time, the library profession must find ways to encourage and promote the development and advancement of underrepresented populations in their careers. Agencies that have initiated mentoring programs have acknowledged higher rates of minority recruitment and retention. Strategies for Promoting Mentoring among Minorities will provide program model resources for establishing mentoring projects within state library associations and individual libraries. This project was submitted under this year's Research Topic 2 - Upward Mobility of Library Leaders from Underrepresented Populations.
