A passionate, dedicated preservationist of print and multimedia treasures, Barclay W Ogden has promoted a wide range of library preservation issues locally, nationally, and internationally from library binding to digitization, from disaster preparedness to collection assessment and identifying preservation priorities. He has led and advised on grant projects ranging from preservation microfilming to investigating accelerated aging techniques for polyvinyl acetate adhesive in binding. Barclay has an uncanny ability to clearly identify problems, visualize solutions, find opportunities, and achieve results with carefully developed and well documented strategies. He builds bridges and communities bringing together allied collections professionals. Barclay consistently maximizes the value of his projects by making them available online. Through his initiative, determination, and leadership, Barclay’s efforts have significantly enhanced the quality, nature, and scope of preservation services and contributed to the preservation of our cultural heritage.
