This inaugural award given to Timothy D. Jewell is in recognition of his distinguished record of creative and significant contributions to the field of electronic resources management. He has been instrumental in the development of initiatives and standards, and his research has thoughtfully explored the increasingly important role of electronic resources in libraries and how librarians can effectively manage them. Mr. Jewell laid the groundwork for the development of electronic resource management systems and the development of electronic resource licensing and use standards such as SUSHI and ONIX. His recent work on the interoperability of acquisitions modules, integrated library systems, and electronic resource management systems has served as an inspiration to both vendors and librarians alike.
