About

91´«Ã½

Representative Hoekstra was recognized for his national leadership in behalf of libraries, and in particular for his work in reauthorizing the federal Museum and Library Services Act, which provides federal support for libraries and museums across America in coordination with state, local and private efforts. Earlier this year the House overwhelmingly passed the legislation, H.R. 13.

"I am extremely grateful that Friends of Libraries U.S.A. has chosen to honor me with this award," Hoekstra said. "Libraries play a critical role in promoting reading and literacy programs, and are a fundamental component of strong and healthy communities. I am proud to sponsor legislation that continues to assist them in developing that role."
