Dr. Brendan Fay earned his M.L.S. and Ph.D. from Indiana University--Bloomington in 2013, with interest in academic libraries and archives and special collections. Fay previously served as Instructional Librarian and Adjunct Professor of History at Washburn University.

Fay has research interests in information and book history and his current scholarship centers on misinformation in closed societies and how conspiracy theories shape popular attitudes towards everyday life within military dictatorships, fascist states, and other authoritarian regimes.

Fay won a 2024 Carnegie-Whitney Grant for the project "The Misinformation Crisis: A Resource List for Librarians and Educators."
