This committee selects the winners of the Shirley Oloson Memorial Award, the Professional Development Grant Award, and the Annual Conference Professional Development Attendance Award. These awards help defray costs associated with attending either the 91´«Ã½ Annual Conference or ticketed events at the conference.

History

The Marshall Cavendish Award Committee was formed in 2006 upon the dissolution of the Exhibitor Contact and Relations Committee, which had managed the award in the past. In 2011, the committee’s name and charge were changed to its current name to reflect changes to the funding structure for the award.

Major Responsibilities

  • Publicize availability of the award and solicit applications.
  • Select recipients.
  • Notify recipients as well as applicants who were not selected.

PURPOSE OF THE AWARD

In the spirit of 91´«Ã½'s New Members Round Table (NMRT), this award fosters active involvement in 91´«Ã½ through various special events at the Annual Conference. The Annual Conference Professional Development Attendance Award is presented to two NMRT members each year. The award provides professional development and networking opportunities to NMRT members by providing a ticket to attend the event of their choice (listed below).

AWARD & Award Criteria

NMRT is providing one ticket for each winner to the event of their choice (listed below) at the 91´«Ã½ Annual Conference. Tickets to many special events would be out of the financial reach of most NMRT members. This award was developed to foster their professional involvement and to increase their networking opportunities.

Any NMRT member who is not currently serving on the Annual Conference Professional Development Attendance Award Committee or the NMRT Executive Board may apply. Please write a short essay (about 250 words) telling us why you want to attend the selected event and how you feel you would benefit personally and professionally.

  • Stonewall Book Awards Brunch
  • Any other ticketed event for which the applicant provides justification (up to $100)

ELIGIBILITY

All 91´«Ã½ NMRT members who are not currently serving on the Annual Conference Professional Development Attendance Award Committee or the NMRT Executive Board are encouraged to apply.

How to Apply

Fill out the which includes writing a short essay (about 250 words) telling us why you want to attend the selected event of your choice and how you feel you would benefit personally and professionally. Applications are due April 27, 2024. Winners will be notified by May 11, 2024.

ENTRY EVALUATION

The Award Committee will review the entries and select the winners based on their essays.

NOTIFICATION

All applications will be acknowledged via email. The two winners will be personally notified immediately after selection.
