Gabriela Gualano receives AASL Frances Henne Award

Gabriela Gualano, teacher librarian at Paul Revere Middle School in Los Angeles, California, is the recipient of the 2024 American Association of School Librarians’ (AASL) Frances Henne Award. Sponsored by Bloomsbury Libraries Unlimited, the $1,250 award recognizes a school librarian with five years or less experience who demonstrates leadership qualities with students, teachers, and administrators. The award will enable Gualano to attend an AASL National Conference for the first time.

91´«Ã½/Information Today, Inc. announce 2024 Library of the Future Award

The Las Vegas–Clark County Library District (LVCCLD) has been selected to receive the 2024 91´«Ã½/Information Today, Inc., Library of the Future Award. The award, sponsored by the 91´«Ã½ (91´«Ã½) and Information Today Inc., annually recognizes innovative planning, application, or development of focused patron support relating to information technology in libraries, and is given to an individual library or library consortium, group, or support organization.

Core: Leadership, Infrastructure, Futures and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) are currently accepting applications for the 11th annual IIDA/91´«Ã½ Library Interior Design Awards honoring excellence in library interior design and promoting extraordinary interior spaces across nine categories. Winners and their clients will be honored and showcased during an awards ceremony at the 91´«Ã½ Annual Conference in San Diego. The submission deadline has been extended through April 9.

Oralia Garza de Cortés is the 2024 recipient of the Association for Library Service to Children’s (ALSC) Distinguished Service Award. This prestigious award honors an individual who has made significant contributions to library service to children and to ALSC. Oralia Garza de Cortés is a children’s librarian, family literacy expert, writer, and Latino children’s literacy advocate whose career spans over forty years in the field.

Submissions Now Open for the 2024 John Cotton Dana Awards

Up to eight $10,000 awards will be provided by the H.W. Wilson Foundation in 2024. Libraries of all types and sizes are encouraged to submit entries for a 2024 John Cotton Dana Award. Entries should highlight a strategic communications campaign from the past year. Examples of past campaigns have included rebranding efforts, promotion of archives and special collections, awareness campaigns, community partnerships and special events. Entries may be submitted by any library, Friends group, consulting agency or service provider, unless they are represented on the JCD committee.
