Julia Wood receives the 2021 – 2022 Pat Carterette Professional Development Grant
91´«Ã½
CHICAGO — The Learning Round Table (LearnRT) of the 91´«Ã½ is pleased to announce that Julia Wood has been selected as this year’s recipient of the Pat Carterette Professional Development Grant. As part of her award, Wood will receive a $1,000 grant to participate in professional development and she will be matched with a LearnRT member-mentor for the year. Kimberly Brown-Harden (the community branch manager at the East 38th Street Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library and LearnRT president) will serve in that role.
Wood is a librarian at Franciscan Health Indianapolis (Health Science Library) and has a documented passion for continuous professional development. She has used her leadership position in health science library associations to sponsor professional development opportunities and, as an active member of other health sciences library associations, she has attended conferences and webinars and taken online tutorials about databases.
Wood will use the grant money to take online learning opportunities through the Medical Library Association’s CE Passport program. The CE Passport program gives subscribers access to webinars and self-paced courses available through MLA’s educational platform. The committee thought Wood’s idea to take courses through the CE Passport program was unique and a great way to continue her professional development during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This Grant is designed to honor the passion that Pat Carterette (a past-President of LearnRT) had for professional development in the field of library and information sciences. Pat’s legacy is focused on providing outstanding educational opportunities for her colleagues to grow and develop within their career field. Funding for the Grant comes from 91´«Ã½ pre-conference events and sponsorship of the LearnRT Training Showcase.
The application period for the 2022 – 2023 Grant will open in the fall of 2021 and close on Feb. 15, 2022. The Grant application will be advertised on the 91´«Ã½ site.
