Members of both the AASL standards editorial board and implementation task force will discuss how the new comprehensive standards for learners, school librarians and school libraries were developed; walk through the main components of the document; and provide an overview of the implementation plan. The committee members will also highlight other standards-related conference events which will give attendees the opportunity to delve into the publication and brainstorm implementation.

“The general session will provide a terrific opportunity for the school library community to celebrate the launch of the revised standards," said Mary Keeling, chair of the of the implementation task force. "Our program will show how the standards fit within the current educational landscape and how the standards and implementation plan were built with community input. Following the general session, attendees will be excited to attend concurrent sessions with their peers where they will learn more about the standards and how to apply them to their practice.”

The new standards will be available for purchase at the conference bookstore or can be pre-purchased during registration. All preconference attendees will receive a copy as part of their registration fee.
