New eCourse from 91´«Ã½ Editions: Intermediate Instructional Design for Information Literacy
91´«Ã½
CHICAGO — 91´«Ã½ Editions announces a new eCourse, . Cinthya Ippoliti will serve as the instructor for this six-week facilitated eCourse starting on Sept. 14, 2015.
Instructional design is a daunting task. What may be more daunting is changing a program and class that already exists. Yet, many librarians are asked to design and teach without a background in library instruction. In this intermediate eCourse, librarian and instructional design expert Cinthya Ippoliti will use her years of experience in library instruction to show you how you can put the principles of instructional design to work utilizing a specific type of instructional design model called design thinking.
The eCourse is designed as a case study where you will work with an existing instructional problem that you will resolve through the design thinking process. As you work through this process, you will use lectures, readings, and videos to build the foundation that you put into action.
The design thinking model allows those who are interested in creating a new IL program from scratch or updating an existing program/course to tackle this work from a different perspective. The perspective engages with the overall goals of design thinking as a humanistic, experimental and collaborative process that, much like information literacy (IL), is not linear. It encourages failure, as much as success, and allows for reflection as part of the process towards developing a better product, or in this case, a better approach to IL instruction.
