CHICAGO – David Loertscher, innovative educational researcher and learning commons revolutionary, will exemplify the anywhere, anytime learning concept by facilitating an online working session during the American Association of School Librarians’ (AASL) 2014 Fall Forum. Dr. Loertscher will work simultaneously with ten sites across the country during School Librarians in the Anytime Anywhere Learning Landscape taking place Oct. 17-18, 2014. Drawing on his decade long experience in leading the reinvention of the school library and computer lab into learning commons, Loertscher will engage all ten sites as he leads a remote working session via Google tools. Participants will create collaborative, innovative take-aways they can immediately implement into their school library program.

"By adding David Loertscher to our list of skilled presenters, every Fall Forum site will be able to experience anytime, anywhere learning," said committee Chair Steven Yates. "Participants will take home tangible, useful ideas to put into action as they continue to be innovators in schools and districts across the country. David's wealth of experience in school libraries and library education combined with his commitment to sharing knowledge and ideas in new and inventive ways will enhance the Fall Forum experience in ways the committee is excited to share with participants."

A former school librarian at the elementary and secondary levels, Loertscher, is currently a professor in the school of library and information science at San Jose State University. He has degrees from the University of Utah, the University of Washington and a Ph.D. from Indiana University. He served as head of the editorial department at Libraries Unlimited for 10 years and is president of Learning Commons Press. He is a past president of AASL.

Registration for the AASL 2014 Fall Forum is now open at . Rates prior to Sept. 17 are AASL member: $289; 91´«Ã½ member: $339; and nonmember: $404. AASL members can also opt to attend with their administrator, technology/curriculum specialist or an AASL student member at a special AASL member PLUS rate of $520. The PLUS member rate includes the AASL member and one of the above guests. Registration rates increase on Sept 18.

The AASL Fall Forum is a multi-day national institute held during non-AASL national conference years. A more intimate event, the institute focuses on one topic of importance to the profession.
