CHICAGO — 91´«Ã½ TechSource announces an exciting new workshop, with Jason Griffey. This workshop will last consist of two 90-minute sessions and take place at 2:30 pm EST/1:30 pm CST on Wednesday, July 23 and Thursday, July 24, 2014.

From the iPad to eReaders, gadgets are everywhere. As these personal electronic devices become ubiquitous in everyday life, it’s essential that libraries are fluent in their language. Whether your library wants to use these items in its services or purchase them to lend out to patrons, this two-part workshop will provide the foundation for bringing your library into the future through gadgets.

• Tools for Managing Devices

Session 2: ChromeOS, Wearables, and Future Tech



This session will cover the following topics:

• ChromeOS and Chromebooks
• Wearables and the next 2-5 years
• Circulation and Policy Decisions
• Wrap up

About the Instructor

Jason Griffey is an associate professor and chief technology strategist at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. His latest book, "Mobile Technology and Libraries," is now available as a part of Neal Schuman’s Tech Set. He can be stalked obsessively at . Griffey was named one of Library Journal’s Movers and Shakers in 2009 and is regularly invited to speak on libraries, the social economy, mobile technology, and other technology-related issues. He spends his free time with his daughter, Eliza, reading, obsessing over gadgets, and preparing for the inevitable zombie uprising.
