CHICAGO – The American Association of School Librarians (AASL), in collaboration with Cisco, SchoolTube and Mackin, is proud to announce the winners of the "Learning4Life in My School Library" Student Video Contest.

Launched in December, the contest solicited videos detailing how school libraries and the technology used within the school library program empowers students to be Learners4Life. Sixty-three entries were received, and one winner at the elementary, middle and high school levels was selected based on the SchoolTube user rating system and a panel of judges.

Winners will receive a Flip™ video camera, courtesy of Cisco, and a prize of $500 in books for their school library, courtesy of Mackin. In addition, winning entries will be featured on the AASL, SchoolTube and Cisco websites and social networking platforms and will be featured at the AASL 15^th National Conference & Exhibition. It is thrilling to know that so many of our students appreciate and value their school library program and the instructional efforts of their school librarians which directly impacts their ability to think, create, share and grow,” said Susan Ballard, chair of the standards and guidelines implementation task force.

The "Learning4Life in My School Library" Student Video Contest is a part of AASL's national campaign, Leaning4Life. The Learning4Life (L4L), , national implementation plan supports states, school systems and individual schools preparing to implement the "Standards for the 21st-Century Learner" and "Empowering Learners: Guidelines for School Library Programs." The plan will also increase awareness and understanding of the essential role school librarians play in a student's education.
