NMRT and the Merritt Fund host reception at 91´«Ã½ Conference in New Orleans

91´«Ã½

CHICAGO - The 91´«Ã½ New Members Round Table (NMRT) and the LeRoy C. Merritt Humanitarian Fund are collaborating to present a joint reception at the 91´«Ã½ Annual Conference in New Orleans.

The NMRT Awards Reception and the Merritt Fund "Reception for a Cause" will be combined into one great event. This event will take place from 7:30 - 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 26 at L’Entrepot Gallery, 527 Julia (in the Gallery District). Everyone is welcome to attend; refreshments will be provided.

NMRT will be honoring the NMRT Shirley Olofson Memorial Award recipient, Eamon Tewell, and the 3M/NMRT Professional Development Grant recipients, Natalie Traylor Clewell, Jessica Nadine Hernandez and Julie N. Kane. These awards provide financial assistance for 91´«Ã½/NMRT members to attend the annual conference in order to encourage and support professional development and participation in 91´«Ã½ and NMRT activities.

“For more than 30 years, NMRT members have had the chance to attend an 91´«Ã½ Annual conference thanks to these awards,” according to current NMRT President Deana Groves, herself a 2008 recipient of the 3M/NMRT Professional Development Award. “The associated professional development opportunities have benefited my career immensely and continue to play a role in my growth as a librarian.”

The LeRoy C. Merritt Humanitarian Fund was established in 1970 and is devoted to the support, maintenance, medical care and welfare of librarians who, in the Trustees opinion, are denied employment rights or discriminated against or denied employment rights because of defense of intellectual freedom.
