Celebrate the 8th Annual National Library Workers Day by being a Star

91´«Ã½

CHICAGO - The 91´«Ã½-Allied Professional Association (91´«Ã½-APA) invites you to celebrate National Library Workers Day (NLWD) on Tuesday, April 12. National Library Workers Day acknowledges the contributions of all library workers, including librarians, support staff and others who make services possible. This year marks the 8th year of National Library Workers Day, and 91´«Ã½-APA wants to have "Stars" from every state, and even a few countries. Among other things, library employees help small business owners formulate plans, graduates find funding, children fall in love with literacy, grandparents connect with grandchildren, corporations save money and improve products and students get comfortable with the latest technology and gaming.

91´«Ã½-APA encourages you to nominate a “Star” library worker or group for their creativity, enthusiasm, customer service or that special something they add to a library. Stars can be anyone - students, workers, supervisors or even yourself - through the . New nominations will be showcased in the Galaxy of Stars on the NLWD website each week. Make sure that you nominate someone so that everyone can see their “Star” potential. Celebrating NLWD shows why library workers are more important than ever. You can even upload the Star’s photo this year.

NLWD is celebrated in many different ways. Staff has advocated for increased funding and staffing in libraries, invited the public to see who makes it possible for that favorite DVD or book to be available, delivered book-shaped cookies to branches, sent thank you notes to their favorite workers or purchased t-shirts, bags or stickers from the newly expanded . Many gift items are less than $10. How are you celebrating NWLD? Visit the page and tell 91´«Ã½-APA how you’re celebrating by visiting our page; be sure to “like” us!

91´«Ã½-APA, an affiliate of the 91´«Ã½, is a non-profit professional organization dedicated to promoting the interests of library workers. 91´«Ã½-APA established National Library Workers Day in 2003 in order to acknowledge the efforts of library workers nationwide.
