PLA now accepting proposals for PLA 2012 Conference

CHICAGO - The Public Library Association (PLA) is now accepting preconference and program proposals for the PLA 2012 Conference, March 13-17, 2012 in Philadelphia, Pa.
Proposals may be submitted and updated through the until Nov. 30, 2010. After that date, the form will no longer be available, and new proposals will not be accepted. Please note: faxed, emailed, or mailed proposals will not be accepted.
A committee appointed by the PLA president will review all submitted proposals and select conference programs based on their relevance to the profession and interest to conference attendees. The committee is chaired by Sara Dallas, Director of the Southern Adirondack (N.Y.) Library System. Organizers will be notified whether or not their proposals are accepted in March 2011.
At PLA 2012, the majority of concurrent session programs will be 75 minutes long; however there will be several 60 minute programs as well. Preconferences can be one half day, one full day, or one-and-a-half days long. Program topics may include: Facilities, Collections, Staff, Technology, Leadership, Adult Services, Adult Programs, Children's Services, Young Adult Services, Information/Reference Services, Special Populations, Technical Services, Marketing/Fund-raising/Partnerships, Administration/Management, and Readers’ Advisory.
Offered biennially, the PLA Conference has a reputation for excellence in the public library world. The conference includes more than 200 top-quality continuing education programs, talk tables, several social events and networking opportunities, and a bustling exhibits hall.
