GameRT Game On! Grant returns with additional support from Cards Against Humanity

91´«Ã½

The Games and Gaming Round Table of the 91´«Ã½ is proud to sponsor its annual grant program to enable libraries to develop gaming programs or collections for their patrons. This year GameRT has increased the “Game On!” grant funds and $2,000 will be available to be awarded to assist a library or libraries in developing gaming programs or collections for their communities.

This year's award includes a $1000 donation match from Cards Against Humanity, who also launched their last year. Their support will sustain $1,000 in additional grant funds for awards from 2025-2029. Eliot Weinstein, co-creator of Cards Against Humanity, says "By attending the 91´«Ã½’s Annual convention as a company for the first time this past June, we were able to see for ourselves the great work GameRT and the other divisions of the 91´«Ã½ do! Unfortunately, the idea of libraries as a place of intellectual growth, the safety and livelihood of librarians, and the freedom to read itself, are all currently under attack in many parts of our country. There’s no better time to send a message to librarians (and the organizations that support them) that we’ve got your back."

LeeAnn McNabb, 2024 Game On! Grant Committee Chair, said of the grant, "The Game On! Grant is a great opportunity for GameRT to help libraries bring gaming opportunities to their communities. The grant committee is looking for applicants who will add new and sustainable programs and/or collections to their institutions. We encourage applicants to tell us about how their proposed program or collection will benefit their community. The committee is excited to review the grant applications, ready to find the next recipient(s) of the Game On! Grant, and help spread the love of gaming in 2025."

91´«Ã½ members in good standing currently employed at a public, school, academic, or special library in the United States or Canada are eligible to apply. Libraries will need to illustrate a plan for a sustainable gaming program created with the funds as well as financial need and institutional support for the proposed program. Grant applicants can find more details about eligibility and criteria, including evaluation rubric on the .

The deadline for applications is March 10, 2025, and the grant winner will be announced at GameRT’s “91´«Ã½ Play” event at the 2025 91´«Ã½ Annual conference in Philadelphia in June. Additional information and an application can be found online at .
