CHICAGO, IL – The Games & Gaming Round Table (GameRT) of the 91´«Ã½ is pleased to announce the Los Angeles Unified School District in Los Angeles, California as the recipient of their 2024 Game On! Grant. GameRT introduced the Game On! grant program in 2020 with the intention of providing libraries with the opportunity to receive funds to develop gaming programs or collections for their community. The grants allow for GameRT to award one grant of $1000 or two of $500 each year.
The Los Angeles Unified School District’s proposal plans to provide exciting gaming days throughout the school year in collaboration with their teaching departments at El Sereno Middle School. Each event will be sponsored by a different department with a game that ties to their content area and will take place over the course of a week.
LeeAnn McNabb, chair of the 2024 Game On! Grant Jury said, “The Game On! Grant committee was very excited to be able to award our first $1,000 level grant this year! We chose the Los Angeles Unified School District’s grant proposal for El Sereno Middle School because of its unique use of games to teach core curriculum in collaboration with their school librarian. We hope the school library and the teaching departments are successful with their programs!”
