CHICAGO - The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) has named Diane Dias De Fazio as the next editor of . As editor, she will also serve as chair of the RBM Editorial Board. Dias De Fazio succeeds Richard Saunders of Southern Utah University as editor beginning in July 2023.

“The ACRL Board of Directors is thrilled to name Diane Dias De Fazio as the next editor of RBM,” said ACRL President Erin L. Ellis of Indiana University Bloomington. “Her prior experience as an author and peer reviewer; connections with a variety of communities related to the mission of the journal; ideas for expanding the journal’s author and reviewer pools; strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion; and focus on increasing connections between the journal and RBMS make her the ideal candidate to lead the journal. We look forward to this next chapter for RBM and thank outgoing editor Richard Saunders for his service to the journal.”

“I don’t know that I’ve ever been quite so excited,” Dias De Fazio said. “I am deeply grateful to ACRL and to the selection committee. It’s very meaningful that they responded to my call for more bilingual content and expanding the author pool to booksellers and students. I cannot wait to collaborate with the greater RBMS community and share our work!”

Librarian at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Library and Archives, Dias De Fazio’s service to the ACRL Rare Book and Manuscript Section (RBMS) includes serving as member-at-large on the section executive committee, member of the Publications & Communications Committee, and co-chair of the Membership and Professional Development Committee, as well as five years on the Conference Program Planning Committees.

Prior to joining the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in 2023, Dias De Fazio served as Acquisitions and Collections Development Librarian at the Cleveland Museum of Art; Curator of Rare Books and Book Arts at the University of Iowa; Public Services, Instruction, and Outreach Librarian at the New York Public Library; among a variety of other positions.

Launched in 1986 as RBML: Rare Books and Manuscripts Librarianship, RBM is ACRL’s journal covering issues pertaining to special collections libraries and cultural heritage institutions.
