91´«Ã½
CHICAGO - Start off the Saturday and Sunday of the 91´«Ã½'s Midwinter Meeting in San Diego with two bestselling authors at the 91´«Ã½ Midwinter Sunrise Speaker Series in January.
will kick off the series at 8 a.m. PST on Saturday, Jan. 8. Like her character Temperance Brennan, Reichs is a forensic anthropologist (one of only 82 ever certified by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology), and creator of the Fox television hit "Bones," now in its fifth season. She is a professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte and is widely known for her 12 books in the Temperance Brennan series—all New York Times bestsellers, including a No. 1. Her latest publication is "VIRALS," her first novel for young readers. Visit to find out more. Reichs’ appearance at Midwinter is sponsored by Penguin.
At 8 a.m. PST on Sunday, Jan. 9, will conclude the Sunrise Speaker Series. Dubus grew up in mill towns along the Merrimack River on the Massachusetts-New Hampshire border. He began writing fiction at age 22 , just a few months after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology. Because he prefers to write in the morning, going from "the dream world to the dream world," as the Irish writer Edna O'Brien puts it, he took mainly night jobs: bartender, office cleaner, halfway house counselor and, for six months, assistant to a private investigator/bounty hunter. He is the author of "Townie" (Feb. 2011), "The Garden of Last Days" and "House of Sand and Fog" (an Oprah Book Club pick and a finalist for the National Book Award, also made into a well-received movie). Dubus’ appearance is sponsored by Norton.
