CHICAGO - Booklist editors host leading practitioners, authors and publishers’ representatives at least once a month in webinars on a variety of topics offering immediate tips, tools, resources and new ideas for collection development and readers’-advisory work. The following upcoming webinars support collection development, specifically in audiobooks and series nonfiction, and in choosing titles to engage reluctant readers. All Booklist webinars are Tuesdays starting at 1 p.m., Central Time.

“What's New in Audiobooks: Fall 2011,” on Oct. 25, features audiobook experts discussing new titles and trends in a lively and informative hour, moderated by Booklist Media Editor Sue-Ellen Beauregard. Join AudioGo, Galaxy Press and Tantor Audio for an enlightening discussion on sure-to-be popular fall and winter releases.

“Reaching Reluctant Readers,” on Nov. 1, makes it easier for you to engage the diverse group of children and teens labeled “reluctant readers.” Moderated by Books for Youth Senior Editor Ian Chipman, representatives from five publishers—ABDO, Abrams, Lorimer, Orca, and Saddleback—will present books that provide a combination of high-interest topics and accessible writing. Attendees will gain insights on how to transform reading from a frustrating to a rewarding experience.

“Continuing Focus on Series Nonfiction,” on Nov. 8, is the latest installment of Booklist’s ongoing and popular series nonfiction for youth webinars, showcasing presentations from three notable publishers in this high-demand genre: Scholastic Library Publishing, Crabtree Publishing Co. and Britannica. The webinar will be moderated by Booklist’s Books for Youth Senior Editor Daniel Kraus.
