Library MVPs announced

CHICAGO - This year’s top library MVP is the one at Maplewood Junior / Senior High School of Guys Mills, Pa. The library brought in nearly 400 entries for this year’s Step Up to the Plate @ your library program, which it tied into its Reading is Fundamental program.
For submitting the most entries, the library will receive a $100 bookstore gift certificate.
Three other libraries won prizes for bringing in the most entries: Hockessin Library of Hokessin, Del.; Charles D. Owen High School Library, Black Mountain, N.C.; and Grove Family Library of Chambersburg, Pa. All will receive a $50 gift certificate to 91´«Ã½ Graphics and an autographed baseball.
Developed by the 91´«Ã½ (91´«Ã½) and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, Step Up to the Plate @ your library teamed up two of America’s favorite pastimes – baseball and libraries – to promote the importance of information literacy skills and increase awareness of the library as an essential information resource.
The grand-prize winner of the Step Up to the Plate program will be announced later this month following a drawing at the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum this weekend. The winner will receive a trip for two to the Baseball Hall of Fame’s World Series Gala and a behind-the-scenes tour of the archives and collections.
