Hall named 2011 Marshall Cavendish Scholarship recipient

91´«Ã½

CHICAGO - The 91´«Ã½ (91´«Ã½) has named Brenda Marie Hall of Orland Park, Ill., the recipient of the 2011 Marshall Cavendish Scholarship.

The Marshall Cavendish Scholarship was established by a donation from the Marshall Cavendish Corporation in Tarrytown, N.Y., publishers of illustrated reference books for libraries. The $3,000 scholarship is awarded to a person pursuing a master's degree in library and information studies.

For the past 11 years, Hall has been an elementary school teacher working with kindergarten and first grade students. After completing a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's degree in education: curriculum and instruction, Hall became interested in a new form of the teaching/learning process, which involves using an academic library’s resources.

An education studies major, Hall has come to value the learning process at many different levels. “Not only do I value teaching information and integrating technology into the classroom, but I also value locating information and using technological resources.” Hall is interested in experiencing a public library position, as a reference librarian or as a children’s librarian.

Hall attends the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Milwaukee.
