91´«Ã½
PHILADELPHIA - The Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations (ALTAFF) is accepting applications for National Friends of Libraries Week Awards through Dec. 1, 2011.
National Friends of Libraries Week, which this year was held Oct. 16-22, offers a two-fold opportunity to celebrate. Friends groups can use the time to creatively promote their group in the community, raise awareness and promote membership. The celebration also offers an excellent opportunity for the library staff and Board of Trustees to recognize the Friends for their help and support of the library.
For the fifth year, awards will be given to Friends of the Library groups in conjunction with National Friends of Libraries Week. Two awards of $250 will be given to groups for activities held during National Friends of Libraries Week, Oct. 16-22, 2011. Applicants must provide a one- to two-page summary of all activities and efforts in conjunction with the celebration of National Friends of Libraries Week. Applicants will be judged on creativity and innovation; involvement of Friends, library staff, Trustees and/or advisory committee; recognition of Friends group and promotion of Friends group to the community, school, students and/or faculty.
. Entries are due by Dec. 1, 2011. Winners will be notified on or before Dec. 22, 2011, and will be recognized at the Gala Author Tea at the 2012 91´«Ã½ Midwinter Meeting in Dallas.
