CHICAGO – By downloading the new AASL11 mobile app, attendees of the American Association of School Librarian’s (AASL) 15th National Conference can plan their conference schedule at home or on the go. The app and companion mobile website syncs registered user data so updates to a schedule can be made and accessed via a person’s laptop or mobile device. For more information on features and how to download the mobile app, visit
The AASL11 mobile app will provide attendees access and updates to the conference agenda and session descriptions. Attendees can create a personal agenda by using the app to search sessions by date and time, speaker name or keyword. During conference, the app will run a real time list of sessions starting within the next hour and provide attendees with a PDF map of the convention center. The app will allow changes in programming to be quickly relayed to attendees via the AASL11 news and alerts menu.
Conference attendees can also maximize their time on the exhibits floor by using the AASL11 app to pre-plan their booth visits. Exhibitors and author signings can be marked in a user’s exhibit plan or author agenda. Attendees can then easily navigate the exhibits floor with the help of the exhibits hall floor plan and a pin icon identifying the location of each marked booth. Handouts made available by exhibitors can be downloaded from the app, which cuts back on the materials an attendee will need to carry with them and upholds AASL’s commitment to go green.
The AASL11 mobile app will also connect attendees with the AASL11 virtual conference, social media outlets such as Twitter and the AASL11 conference Ning and information on the Minneapolis area, including local restaurants, conference hotels, transportation and weather.
The AASL 15th National Conference and Exhibition, "Turning the Page," is the only national conference dedicated solely to the needs of school librarians and their roles as educational leaders. Taking place Oct. 27-30, 2011 in Minneapolis, the AASL National Conference will feature preconferences, numerous concurrent sessions, 32,000 square foot exhibit hall full of exhibiting companies, educational and school tours, a storytelling festival and special appearances by award-winning authors.
