Kordeliski elected 2022-2024 AASL Director-At-Large

91´«Ã½

CHICAGO – Amanda Kordeliski, director of libraries and instructional technology for Norman (Oklahoma) Public Schools, has been elected American Association of School Librarians (AASL) director-at-large for 2022-2024. Kordeliski will take her seat on the AASL Board of Directors during the 2022 91´«Ã½ Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.

“Every school librarian has something to contribute to make our organization more valuable,” said Kordeliski. “As the world changed dramatically over the last two years, members worked together to create and share pandemic resources, town halls, Twitter chats, and a greater sense of community within school librarianship. Now more than ever we need connections to other librarians. To support one another, to help amplify school librarian voices, to advocate for libraries where everyone is welcome, and to fight for intellectual freedom. As director-at-large, I want to make sure every school librarian sees AASL as an accessible and welcoming organization with many different pathways to involvement and engagement.”

Kordeliski is a member of AASL, the Young Adult Library Services Association, and the Association for Library Service to Children. She is also a member of the American Indiana Library Association as well as several 91´«Ã½ roundtables. She has served as AASL Practice Committee co-chair, as the Oklahoma delegate to the AASL Chapter Assembly, and as a member of the AASL National School Library of the Year committee. She is also an active volunteer leader for the Oklahoma Library Association and the Oklahoma School Librarians.

“AASL will be well guided by these phenomenal leaders,” said AASL Immediate Past President Kathy Carroll. “I want to thank them again for making the commitment to serve their national association in this capacity. It is only with talented, dedicated volunteer leaders that we can continue to move the association, and the profession, forward.”
