CHICAGO – The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) will be in attendance when the 2022 ASCD Annual Conference takes place in Chicago this month. AASL President Jennisen Lucas, AASL President-Elect Kathy Lester, former AASL Board of Directors member Laura Hicks, and AASL Executive Director Sylvia Knight Norton will make connections and represent the school library profession on the exhibit floor during Recharge & Reconnect on March 18-21, 2022.

“I am very excited that AASL has this opportunity to meet and open dialogs with administrators of all levels,” said AASL President Jennisen Lucas. “Conversations about the importance of having certified school librarians in their buildings are vital, especially this year when school librarians are getting so much attention in the media. Through the ASCD conference, the association has an opportunity during this difficult time to share the message that certified school librarians are essential to the education and growth of our learners.”

ASCD (Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development) has more than 125,000 members from more than 120 countries, including superintendents, school leaders, teachers, and other educators. AASL has been an ASCD Whole Child Partner since 2008. The ASCD Whole Child Approach to Education supports a system of academic achievement and accountability that promotes the development of children who are healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged.
