Rachel Scott Chosen as New LRTS Editor

CHICAGO—Core’s Library Resources & Technical Services (LRTS) journal has selected Rachel Scott as its new editor. Scott is the Associate Dean for Information Assets at Illinois State University’s Milner Library. She previously worked as the Integrated Library Systems (ILS) Librarian and Interim Coordinator for Cataloging, Collection Management, & Library Information Systems at University Libraries at University of Memphis and was the ILS assistant professor and Library Information Systems Assistant Department Head at University Libraries at University of Memphis. For the past four years, Scott has served as co-editor-in-chief of Music Reference Services Quarterly (MRSQ).
“I am passionate about the topical areas central to Library Resources & Technical Services (LRTS): acquisitions, collections, continuing resources, preservation and digitization, resource description and scholarly communication,” Scott says. “Library and information science professionals entrust their innovative, thoughtful and impactful work to LRTS; readers look to LRTS for best practices and new ideas. I am honored and humbled to join the team that publishes such valuable work, and I’m committed to working towards inclusive and equitable review and publication practices and a fully Open Access publishing format.”
Led by former LRTS Editor Mary Beth Weber, Head, Central Technical Services, Rutgers University Libraries at Rutgers University, the LRTS Editor Search Committee consisted of Ken Varnum, editor of Core’s Information & Technology and Library (ITAL) journal, Library Leadership & Management (LL&M) journal editor Elizabeth Nelson, LRTS Book Review Editor Elyssa Gould, and Core Advocacy & EDI Program Officer Brooke Morris-Chott.
"I'm delighted that Rachel Scott will the next LRTS Editor. She has a great deal of experience both as a scholar and as a journal editor," says Weber. "She's well positioned to lead the journal on its transition to full open access. She's the ideal person to bring LRTS into alignment with the other two Core scholarly journals."
is a peer-reviewed journal that takes a critical approach to the questions and challenges facing librarians and libraries with regard to collections, scholarly communication, preservation (including digitization), acquisitions (including licensing and economic aspects of acquisitions), continuing resources, cataloging (including descriptive metadata, authority control, subject analysis, and classification). LRTS publishes both research papers and thoughtful explorations of operational issues that have value and implications for other libraries.
