91´«Ã½

CHICAGO—Michael Fernandez, Electronic Resources Acquisitions Librarian at Yale University Library, has been selected as the assistant editor of Core’s Library Resources & Technical Services (LRTS) journal. Fernandez has worked within library technical services at a variety of institutions, including public and private universities, federal libraries and non-profit organizations. In his current role, he supervises a small team responsible for licensing, ordering and assessment of electronic resources. Additionally, Fernandez serves on a number of different committees at the institutional, consortial and national level, including Yale University Library’s Openness Strategy Task Force which is charged with making recommendations and developing a roadmap in support of building and enhancing the openness of the library’s collections and services.

“As the work of technical services has continually evolved, LRTS has long served as a forum for innovative research and practical explorations of the issues that face library workers,” Fernandez says. “Given the current operational challenges faced by libraries, it’s more important than ever that we continue engaging in dialogue through spaces like this publication. I’m excited to be joining the LRTS editorial team and feel privileged to be carrying on the conversation.”

Led by former LRTS Editor Mary Beth Weber, Head, Central Technical Services, Rutgers University Libraries at Rutgers University, the LRTS Assistant Editor Search Committee consisted of Ken Varnum, editor of Core’s Information & Technology and Library (ITAL) journal, Library Leadership & Management (LL&M) journal editor Elizabeth Nelson, LRTS Book Review Editor Elyssa Gould, and Core Advocacy & EDI Program Officer Brooke Morris-Chott.

"Michael Fernandez has a wealth of ideas on how to attract new and different types of submissions to LRTS as it evolves to become part of the Core suite of scholarly journals," Weber says. "Together with Rachel, he will help transform LRTS and I'm excited that he'll be part of the team leading the journal."
