AASL School Leader Collaborative Call For Nominations

CHICAGO – The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) is pleased to issue a call for nominations for a new school administrator cohort for the AASL School Leader Collaborative. Sponsored by OverDrive Education, the initiative is a continuation of OverDrive’s support for the 2019-2021 cohort whose members were speakers at the AASL 2021 National Conference general session.
The 2022-2024 cohort will build upon the knowledge gained from the first cohort of the AASL School Leader Collaborative. An elementary, middle, and high school principal and two superintendents will be selected during the Spring of 2022 for the Collaborative that will also include two AASL member leaders, the AASL Executive Director, and a representative from OverDrive. Administrators who are selected will continue their work in the AASL School Leader Collaborative through Spring 2024 with a goal to deepen the visibility and understanding for leadership of an effective school library where the school librarian provides an inclusive and personalized learning environment, creates equitable access to diverse resources, and transforms teaching and learning for all learners.

Members of the AASL School Leader Collaborative will meet virtually on a monthly basis, present at the 2023 AASL National Conference in Tampa, and dialogue with national professional administrator organizations about the value of school librarians and their leadership role in the school community and interconnected world. Collaborative members commit to speak and write on behalf of school librarians, including co-authorship with their nominating school librarian.
School librarians may for a principal or superintendent who have shown support for the role of school librarians and school libraries for transforming teaching and learning. The administrator will indicating their willingness to participate and submit a curriculum vitae. More details about the expectations for Collaborative members may be found in the online forms. All forms are due by March 21, 2022.
The OverDrive sponsorship also includes support for state level leaders from AASL Chapters for opportunities to connect with school administrators and provide presentations or exhibits at their state administrator conferences.
