Elizabeth Dawson Selected as a 2022 Core Emerging Leader

91´«Ã½

CHICAGO—Core: Leadership, Infrastructure, Futures is pleased to announce that Elizabeth Dawson has been named as a Core Emerging Leader (EL). Dawson is the Technical Services Librarian at Arizona Western College in Yuma, Ariz., which she joined after receiving her MLIS in 2019.

Working during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dawson has taught and worked with students and faculty both online and in-person. She currently supervises technical services assistants and performs all the acquisitions for the library. She has an extensive background in education and has worked in school libraries.

“Librarians, all types in various settings, have such an important role in serving their community (however their community is defined), and the more we learn from one another, the better we serve those communities.” Dawson states. “I am seeking to expand my knowledge with new experiences and challenges, and I am very excited to be selected as part of the 2022 cohort for Emerging Leaders.”

One of 49 library workers chosen from across the U.S. and Canada, Dawson will participate in project planning work groups, network with peers, gain an inside look into the 91´«Ã½ structure, and have an opportunity to serve the profession in a leadership capacity. Following a kickoff session at the 91´«Ã½ LibLearnX virtual event, the program will continue in an online learning and networking environment for six months, culminating in a presentation of the groups' work at the 2022 91´«Ã½ Annual Conference in Washington D.C. this June. Core is sponsoring three Emerging Leaders for 2022. Learn more about the 91´«Ã½ Emerging Leaders Program.
