The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) invites library workers and academics in the field of library and information science to apply for the ALSC Research Agenda Grant, a pilot grant supporting research for innovative and meaningful efforts in libraries.

The pilot ALSC Research Agenda Grant recognizes, promotes, and supports the development and dissemination of emerging research within children’s library services by providing up to $4,000 in seed funds for research that aligns with the . Applications will be accepted between May 12, 2021 and July 20, 2021 and an award will be made at the end of August 2021. View the full grant guidelines and apply online at . Practitioners currently working with children in a variety of library settings and academics in the field of library and information science are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be personal members of ALSC.

The ALSC Research Agenda provides a review of existing research in six priority research areas and poses questions that will engage practitioners and academics in guided inquiry exploring gaps in research that will contribute to practical applications and advocacy for the profession. “ALSC is excited to launch the pilot ALSC Research Agenda Grant to support compelling new research inspired by the research agenda that will inform evidenced-based practices in children’s programs, collections, and services, benefiting children and their families in our library communities,” said Kirby McCurtis, ALSC President.

The ALSC Research Agenda Grant will continue the work outlined in the research agenda by developing and disseminating emerging research that aligns with the research agenda priority areas. In this era of COVID-19, ALSC especially welcomes proposals for research that seeks to understand the effects and impacts of the pandemic on library services for children and families, in and out of the library.
